| Description | I’ve long been enamored with my neighborhood both in and out of the fog. Multiple series of photographs and documenting my dog walks have transitioned into an ongoing series of relief prints capturing the essence of the city I love. I began my San Francisco series because I was drawn to the interplay of angles and textures across the roofs of my neighborhood (as seen from my balcony) and this subject appears in multiple photographs and blockprints. Interesting houses I pass everyday on my dogwalks are now part of the series, capturing the unique look of many of the streets in my neighborhood. The instantly identifiable hill that dominates Bernal Heights and the signature fog of San Francisco, lovingly nicknamed Karl the Fog, became the inspiration for my newer images with the fog playing a central role. Expanding beyond my neighborhood, the fog finds its way around many of the well-known landmarks of the city, creating a throughline in my work. |
